An equalizing pulse technique has been proposed for reducing the false contours which appear on moving images on PDPs. This technique however is applicable only to one-dimensional directions. In order to apply for expressing TV pictures, the technique is extended so that it can deal with objects moving in arbitrary directions. Here, a virtual pixel technique, developed previously, is adopted for signal processing. The technique selects active sub-fields considering the motion vectors of each picture element. By the use of the two-dimensional equalizing pulse technique, false contouring can be suppressed. Also MTF, namely quality of high resolution images, can be improved.
