Hepatic Visualization after Radionuclide Venogram

Ten days after an inferior vena caval clip was placed, left leg swelling developed in an 82-year-old white woman. Visualization of the liver, as well as the lungs, is thought to be due to pelvic collaterals shunting blood via the rectal (hemorrhoidal) veins, through the inferior mesenteric vein, and into the portal system (1).
