摘要

This paper investigates supporting Ipv6, the next generation IP ina Teledesic-link low earth orbit(LEO) satellite backbone. The networkarchitecture consists of LEO satellite with intersatellite links,gateway stations, standard terminals and mobile terminals. Thisnetwork offers mobile data services like earth cellular networks. Dueto its enlarged addressing space, Ipv6 is selected as the networklayer. For routing Ipv6 datagrams in this network, a tunnellingapproach is taken in which Ipv6 datagrams from/to the Internet arefragmented/reassembled into ATM-cell-like packets.
