AbstractThe kinetics and mechanism of emulsion polymerization of vinyl acetate using the redox initiation system potassium persulfate‐iron tetraoxalyl urea in presence of the emulsifiers poly(vinyl alcohol) and sodium lauryl sulfate, respectively, were investigated. The effect of different reaction conditions on the rate of polymerization and on the molecular weight of the obtained poly(vinyl acetate) was studied. It was found that the mentioned initiation system increases the maximum conversion and forms a stable emulsion at low temperature
