This paper deals with air pollution due to road traffic in the urban area of Brescia, one of the most polluted Italian cities. After a brief introduction concerning some traffic-related air pollution issues, a general picture of the territorial and socio-economic characteristics of the investigated area that can affect pollution is provided. A description of the urban mobility patterns in the city is then presented. Finally, the results of a macro-scale analysis of the Brescia's air pollution are reported, showing a sound correlation between traffic emissions and air quality levels.
