Several new ruthenium(II) complexes have been prepared by reacting HRuClCO(PPh3)3with bidentate chelating ligands such as 8-hydroxyquinoline, N-benzoyl-N-phenyl-hydroxylamine, 2-hydroxyphenones, salicylaldehyde hydrazone and #x3B2;-diketones. The electronic spectra give evidence for complex formation. The infrared spectral studies indicate these complexes to have hexa-coordinated ruthenium with octahedral geometry. The31P NMR spectrum of the 8-hydroxyquinoline complex suggeststrans-disposition of the phosphine groups in the product.
