MIBI SPECT and Radioguided Surgery in the Accurate Location of a Posterior Mediastinal Parathyroid Adenoma

NA;MIBI SPECT accurately located an ectopic posterior mediastinal parathyroid adenoma in a woman with persistent hypercalcemia and elevated intact parathyroid hormone lpar;PTHrpar; levels after a left hemithyroidectomy and left inferior parathyroidectomy for primary hyperparathyroidism. Surgery was guided by gamma probe, and a parathyroid adenoma close to the right lateral aspect of the trachea and esophagus was removed.
