摘要

A 37-year-old male presented with hemoptysis for 1 week. His previous chest X-ray (Figure 1A) showed small volume of the right lung, absence of right pulmonary hilum and mediastinum shifted to right. Contrast-enhanced chest CT (Figure 1B) revealed absence of right pulmonary artery and mosaic per-fusion (Figure 1C) during expiratory phase. Based on the image findings, the patient received a diagnosis of interruption of right pulmonary artery.Interruption of the pulmonary artery, caused by congenital development anomaly of the sixth branchial arch, is described as absence of pulmonary artery or terminates within 1 cm of its origin. There are three sub-groups of these patients. Bahler et al. described group-1 as a left-to-right shunt, such as a patent ductus arteriosus; group-2 and group-3 are interrupted pulmonary artery with or without pulmonary hypertension. Most patients with proximal interruption of the right pulmonary artery are asymptomatic and may be diagnosed at adulthood accidentally. In contrast, interruption of the left pulmonary artery is usually associated with other cardiovascular congenital anomalies.Hemoptysis occurs in about 10 of cases of interruption of pulmonary artery3 due to rupture of collateral vessels and is usually minor and self-limited.
