Sanyo Electric Invests Heavily on Solar Cell Capacities

To meet the demand of bustling global photovoltaic (PV) market, Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. has expanded its solar cell production capacity on Heterojunction with Intrinsic Thin-layer (HIT) solar cells. In particular, Shimane Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd., one of Sanyo Electric's production facilities for solar cells, has recently invested over V7.8 billion (US$82 million) for the installation of a new production line with 90MW capacity. The operation of the new production line will commence in FY2010.
