The ability of the ternary system Nd{N(SiMe_3)_2}_3/Al(iBu)_3/AlEt_2Cl to polymerize butadiene at 70deg C in heptane or toluene was studied. The microstructure of the polybutadiene obtained was found to be highly cis-1,4. The effect of the ratio Nd{N(SiMe_3)_2}_3/Al(iBu)_3/AlEt_2Cl and the polymerization solvent on activity and polybutadiene microstructure were studied. The best result was obtained for a mole ratio of 1/40/2 in heptane.
