Study of genetic parameters and genetic divergence in okra Abelmoschus Esculentus (L.) Moench

All diverse fifty germplasm were collected from different sources and then evaluated at (field) Horticultural Research Centre (HRC), Department of Horticulture, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture Technology, Meerut in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. In each replication seeds were sown in a plots in which row to row distance was 60 cm and plant to plant 45 cm. The recommended agro-practices were followed to ensure a healthy crop growth and development. Germplasm collections of all the 50 diverse genotypes of okra were screened with morphological level used to analysis of genetic diversity. Cluster analysis clearly showed the genetic diversity among the genotypes under study. The estimates of variance, co-efficient of variation, heritability and genetic advance as percentage of mean is analysed. In this present study, broad sense heritability values were categorized in three group's viz. low (less than 50), moderate (50 to 75) and high (more than 75). All genotypes were distributed in to VIII cluster.
