A Massive Cystic Dysplastic Kidney Shown on a DMSA ScanIncremental Value of Early and Delayed Views in Preventing Misdiagnosis

Standard renal imaging with Tc-99m DMSA is performed 3 to 4 hours after injection. The additional diagnostic value of early and delayed views in a neonate with a massive cystic mass is described. The additional views obviated misdiagnosis by clearly distinguishing a displaced urinary bladder from possible functioning renal tissue.
