Performance of aneuploids in an autotetraploid ryegrass population

A study of seedling growth of a C3tetraploid population derived from #x2018;Grasslands Anki#x2019; ryegrass indicated that tetraploid plants had larger vegetative parts and slower development than diploid: 55 of the tetraploid plants were aneuploid, and though hyperploids did not differ significantly from the euploids, hypoploids had fewer tillers (reflected in lower total leaf weight) and less root. Variance of the tetraploid population was not significantly affected by the inclusion of aneuploids.
