Eagle Star Insurance is one of the largest composite insurance companies in the UK and has outlets in over 50 countries worldwide. It has been part of the BAT Group (British and American Tobacco) since 1985 and, together with Allied Dunbar and Farmers Insurance in America, forms the financial services arm, contributing almost 50 to the profit line.Eagle Star has dual head office facilities in Cheltenham and in London, plus numerous other offices and branches throughout the UK. It is split into four operating divisions: General Insurance, Life Insurance, Asset Management (investments and property) and International, and one support division#x2014;Corporate Services (Fig. 1).It is within Corporate Services that the end-user computing support function resides and is responsible for all personal computing using the mainframe under TSO (time-sharing option), personal computers and officeautomation using a network of Wang VS and OIS machines.
