Global warming refers to the increase in average temperature of surface air near the earth and oceans. The menace of global warming Is fast increasing, mainly because of increased human activity. Carbon dioxide emission Is responsible for about 70% of man made global warming mainly because of burning of fossil fuels and forests, and intensive farming. Besides extreme weather changes affecting both the sea and land life, it is likely to Increase the spread of diseases and exert serious impact on agriculture and crop production systems in different regions of the world, thereby proving a threat to world food security. Therefore, there are hardly any options available than to control the emission of carbon dioxide and other green house gases. If steps are not taken to curb carbon emissions, agricultural productivity could fall drastically, especially in the developing countries. This calls for devising suitable strategy to combat the problem, and thus some strategic measures are presented in this paper.
