摘要

An Internet pure-play EMIS approach based on "software as a service" (Saas) or "on demand" delivery marks a significant advance over the client-server and application service provider (ASP) approaches, according to Lawrence Goldenhersh, Enviances CEO, president and founder. "The upfront costs are dramatically reduced because the customer does not need to purchase or install either hardware or software, and because the implementation times are so dramatically reduced with Internet deployment." The on demand approach also offers dramatic cost savings for upgrades, asserts Goldenhersh. "Upgrades are very different in the Internet world. There's no need for an army of IT professionals traveling site to site to wrestle with systems and installation discs, and there are no system configuration or compatibility issues, no system shutdowns, and no budget crisis."
