Inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) is one of the most powerful analytical techniques for elemental and speciation analysis in biological materials owing to its advantages over other existing techniques: a) low detection limits, b) multielemental capabilities, c) ability to make isotope ratio measurements, d) simple to interpret spectra, e) wide linear dynamic range, f) high sample throughput, and g) easy coupling to chromatographic systems.
