Synthesis and Characterization of Complexes of Imidazoles of Various Basicities with Thallium (III) Halides

The interaction between T1X (X= Cl, Br, I) and imidazoles of different basicity (imidazole (Im); 1-methyl-imidazole (1-Me-Im); 1-ethyl-imidazole (1-Et-Im); 4-methyl-imidazole (4-Me-Im) and 4,5-diphenyl-imidazole (4,5-Diphen-Im)) in various molar ratios has been studied and the complexes prepared have been characterized by elemental analysis. These complexes are solid monomers, non-electrolytes in acetonitrile solution and their possible structures have been based on. 1H NMR, I. R. spectral analyses, and X-ray diffraction.
