Today's consumer is faced with an array of television choices as competition in the Industry heightens and cable and satellite operators and other television providers strive to find new ways of reaching larger audiences. Deregulation of the telephone and television broadcasting industries has also created intense competition for traditional voice revenue. In an effort to attract and retain subscribers, telephone companies, as well as cable and satellite operators, are seeking to provide new and differentiated service offerings. For example, many cable companies have upgraded their infrastructure and deployed cable modems on a wide scale to offer highspeed Internet services to their cable television subscribers. In addition, many of these companies, such as NTL offer voice services bundled with their traditional offering of video and high-speed Internet.
