The economic analysis of political behavior should incorporate the existence of psychopaths. Their existence provides an alternative basis for the use of the rational choice paradigm in modeling political processes. This article reviews the scientific evidence regarding psychopaths and connect its implications to a school of thought known as Virginia Political Economy.
