Haematological and Clinical Parameters in Assessing Activity in Hodgkin's Disease and Other Malignant Lymphornas

The neutrophil alkaline phosphatase (NAP) levels have been studied in 135 patients with malignant lymphomas on 363 occasions. Elevated NAP levels are relatively common in active Hodgkin's disease and uncommon in other lymphomas. In Hodgkin's disease, activity of the neoplastic process is correlated with elevated NAP scores, but the test has no apparent advantage over estimation of the ESR. Serial estimation of both NAP and ESR may provide a useful index of the recurrence of Hodgkin's disease in the treated patient.
