This paper presents a signal transferring architecture of a PON (Passive optical network) for an access network in a public network. The PON provides a micro-switch on each ONU (Optical network unit) of the PON. The PON can complete communication service functions in the PON itself. Thus, the PON allows downsizing of the network node. This paper first presents a core network architecture for which the PON works. The core network handles aggregate packets corresponding to each service class on the wave-length division multiplexing line. To match the aggregate packets, the PON dynamically allocates the same size slots to each ONU for the STM and packet data transfer. Some STM slots are used for the packet transfer if they are vacant in the STM data transfer term. Serial packet slots are concatenated to save guard-time gaps between slots when they are offered to the same ONU.
