DEGENERATE VERNIER INTERFEROMETRIC LASER RESONATORS

An experiment is described which demonstrates that the loss associated with the highQmodes of vernier resonators remains constant as the degenerate configuration is approached. Methods are described which utilize nearhyphen;degenerate vernier resonators for (1) studying the competition between laser transitions with common energy levels and (2) measuring electron densities in cw gaseous plasmas.
