AbstractThe CO2laser can be used to remove extensive superficial lesions of the oral cavity by vaporization. The CO2laser has the advantage that due to the strong absorption in soft tissue and hemostasis of small blood vessels, accurate control of the depth of vaporization can be accomplished. Additionally, postoperative discomfort and edema are minimal, and healing by secondary intention can be achieved without unnecessary mutilation. A case report of a patient with leukoplakia is presented.
