Formation and quenching kinetics of ArF

In this paper we report on the formation and quenching kinetics of ArFast; (2Sgr;1/2). The ArFast; is produced by irradiating mixtures of Ar and F2. The primary formation channel is via the recombination of Ar+and Ar+2with Fminus;. Quenching of ArFast; by F2and Ar have been measured by analyzing the ArFast;thinsp;2Sgr;1/2rarr;2Sgr;1/2fluorescence as a function of the F2and Ar partial pressures. We have also measured the displacement of the Ar in ArFast; by Kr and Xe to form KrFast; and XeFast;, respectively.
