Unusual Tlhyphen;201 Scintigraphic Findings in Intralesional Hemorrhagic Schwannoma of the Knee

NA;Most schwannomas are negative on Tlhyphen;201 imaging. The authors present an unusual case of schwannoma of the knee in a 58hyphen;yearhyphen;old woman, in whom the Tlhyphen;201 study revealed increased uptake of isotope on both early and delayed images. Magnetic resonance imaging showed inhomogeneous hypointensity on the T1 weighted images, and a mixture of hypohyphen;, hyperhyphen;, and isointensity of muscle on the short tau inversion recovery images. Histologic examination of the excised tumor showed wide hemorrhagic areas, multiple cysts, hemosiderin deposits, granulation tissue, and solid areas of tumor consistent with conventional schwannoma.
