摘要

This paper focuses on parametric studies of frictional piles which are made of steel and concrete. The steel piles have the H and pipe cross-section, while the concrete piles are square and circular types. The geometrical similarity of the analyzed piles is achieved by setting the width (or diameter) as constant for all the analyzed collection of piles. The variable length of the piles is determined by means of the integer-value multiplier and the diameter of the piles. The bearing capacity characteristics for four types of soils typical for lowland of Florida region designated as S1, S2, S3 and S4 are described by means of the established functions of the Standard Penetration Test (SPT) N-values. They take into account the type of soil, the pile material, and their cross-section shapes. The frictional piles are such that are able to resist more than 70 of Davisson's axial capacity by means of mobilized skin frictional resistance. This is equivalent to the criterion that requires the frictional resistance be larger than 80 of pile's point capacity. The effect of side friction resistance, with respect to Davisson's bearing capacity, is described by means of FD factor which depends explicitly on the aspect ratio (R) and the SPT N-values. This fact allows for the assessment of sensitivity of FD with respect to N and R which are considered as the design variables.
