RUTSTROEMIA CUNICULI, A COPROPHILOUS SPECIES OF THE SCLEROTINIACEAE

A mass-ascospore culture ofCoprotinia cuniculi(Boud.) Dennis was grown under controlled environmental conditions and produced mature apothecia. From these apothecia, single-ascospore cultures were isolated and after a growth period of 4 to 5 months they produced mature apothecia. The fungus was shown to be self-fertile. The new combinationRutstroemia cuniculi(Boud.) Elliott is proposed.
