摘要

The numerical simulation analyses were performed on the buckling andpostbuckling behavior of laminated composite shells with embedded shapememory alloy (SMA) wires. These analyses using ABAQUS code were conductedto investigate the effect of embedded SMA wires on the characteristics ofbuckling and postbuckling caused by external and thermal loads.The nonlinearbuckling analysis showed that the activation of eccentrically embedded SMAwires increased the critical buckling load when phase transformation of SMAwires occurred. The activated SMA wires embedded in the direction of bucklingresulted in a sudden increase of the critical buckling load when both edgeswere simply supported. However, activated SMA wires embedded in the oppositedirection of buckling, resulted in a sudden decrease of the buckling load. Thethermal buckling analyses of the composite shells with embedded SMA wiresshowed that the critical buckling temperature increased and the thermalbuckling deformation decreased by using the activation force of embedded SMAwire actuators.
