A 45-degree linearly polarized slot array with microstrip line feed is developed. In order to simplify the feed system and to reduce the feeding line loss, series feeding is adopted to excite the radiating slots. First, the coupling level between the single slot and the microstrip line is evaluated. Based on this result, a one-dimensional eight-slot array is designed and its characteristics are numerically investigated. Using four sets of the 8-slot array and a backing reflector, a two-dimensional array is constructed and its effective performance is demonstrated by the analysis. Measured results of the one- and two-dimensional arrays are also presented to validate the numerical considerations.
