Schelkunoff has used the biconical antenna approach and transmission-line equations to derive antenna impedance relations in terms of its length with its characteristic impedance as the parameter. The relations are complicated. The relations can be simplified by transferring the reference point of the impedance at the current maximum on the antenna and by considering the antenna system as a whole with its associated transmission-line system. Relations are derivable in terms of the input voltage standing wave ratios on the transmission-line-antenna system as a whole. These are discussed in the paper.
