Placonotus testaceus (Fabricius) (Laemophloeidae) in Windsor Forest (Berks VC 22)

Although first found in Britain in 2001 (Nash, 2005), Placonotus testaceus (Fabricius) failed to make it onto the British list (Duff, 2012) because of the circumstances of the capture (Duff, in lit.). A single female was collected from under the bark of an oak trunk in a woodyard on the Shrubland Estate, Coddenham, East Suffolk. Nash mentioned that 'in recent years' the estate had sourced timber from elsewhere, from Euston (West Suffolk), Sandringham (West Norfolk) and Woburn (Bedfordshire). Although Nash made no mention of imports from outside the British Isles, there was the suspicion this might have been the case.
