Individual longitudinal radiogrammetric analyses of bone ldquo;recoveryrdquo; in 47,Gplus;adolescents reveal greater than normal rates of both subperiosteal and endosteal surface apposition superimposed on initially small and deficient bone envelopes. Greater than normal individual rates of apposition at both bone surfaces over a 2.5-year period in adolescents of both sexes with Down's syndrome suggest that the previously reduced rate of subperiosteal apposition and increased rate of endosteal apposition may not be due to inherent defects in the bone per se.
