Two major post-harvest diseases have been found in New Zealand avocados (Persea americanaMiller): anthracnose, associated withColletotrichumspecies, and stem-end rots, associated withBotryosphaeriaandPhomopsisspecies. SeveralFusariumspecies have been also isolated from fruit rots. Scab (Sphaceloma perseaeJenkins) is recorded for the first time on New Zealand avocados.
