In response to enterprise demands and competitive threats, telecom service providers are shifting their hardware-centric product offering to application-aware network services, and as such move up the value chain from a traditional connectivity provider to a full-fledged solutions provider. This article, presents a high-level view on evolving enterprise needs, and explores why and how telecom service providers are well positioned to offer a wide variety of new 'multimedia' applications and services to the enterprise community.
