Heterocysts of autotrophically grownAnabaena cylindricacontain about 77 as much chlorophyll as do vegetative cells, have little phycocyanin, and appear to lack myxoxanthophyll. Heterocysts have a photosystem I. Lipids of the two cell types differ.
