Researchers at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies have found thathydrogen in the form of liquid ammonia is the most effective way totransport hydrogen overseas, as carrier ships would be able to delivertwice as much hydrogen when shipping liquid ammonia compared tohydrogen shipped in its own liquid form, according to their study.“In general, with the currently available technological solutions, large volumes of hydrogen are normally delivered in either gaseousor liquid forms,” said the study, which was released in September.“Nevertheless, for the development of a mature hydrogen economy inthe future, neither option appears to represent the most economicallyadvantageous approach to perform this task.”
