The narrative As usual the central exhibition theme of the Architecture Biennale 2021 is divided into two parts: one is in the long halls of the Corderie in the Arsenal, the other in the central pavilion of the Giardini of Venice. If you begin your visit in the Arsenal in the first room comprehensive reading material prepares you for the show's lofty themes. When read together the titles to the five descriptions produce the idealistic "narrative" of the show as an answer to the question about how we will live together in the future: "Among Diverse Beings - As New Households - As Emerging Communities -Across Borders - As One Planet." The essentially beautiful and ambitious project contributions that Hashim Sarkis and his team researched world-wide to illustrate, more or less suitably, their hardly achievable ideals, comment above all on the technical, nostalgic, local, and aesthetic partial criteria of the bigger everyday problems, at some places wittily, at others with technological ambition. However, not a single project at its current stage of development has what it takes to provide here and now, outside of its limited local situation, effective help, and progress for bigger crisis scenarios.
