THE LAST Learjet built has rolled off the production line at Wichita in Kansas and entered the paint shop, ending the production programme for the iconic business jet family. The aircraft, a Learjet 75 Liberty (c/n 45-608, '75-153'), was registered as N4003L in May 2021 and became N75KX for Learjet Inc during December. The aircraft is the 153rd Learjet 75. Bombardier announced on February 11 last year that production of the business jet would cease, stating that the final aircraft would be completed by the end of 2021, concluding a 58-year production run of the family. The first Learjet variant, the Model 23, was introduced in 1963, Bombardier took over the programme in 1990 and the initial example of the last version, the Learjet 75, was delivered in late 2013. The Learjet 75 was launched alongside the 70 as refined versions of the Model 45 and 40, but poor sales of the Learjet 70 ended production of that variant in 2016.
