The present investigation was undertaken to develop stable heat tolerant genotypes in chilli. Five heat tolerant genotypes identified from a local germplasm were found segregating and these were selfed for six generation (from Summer, 2014 to Summer 2017) followed by characterization of these stable tolerant lines (Summer, 2018). Summer season was used for identification as well as selection of heat tolerant. Additionally, for faster generation advancement, Kharif season was also used for raising thecrop and selfing but no selection was done in this season. A total of seventeen heat stable genotypes developed were evaluated for plant height, days to fifty percent flowering, fruiting habit, fruit length, fruit width, average fruit weight and fruit yield per plant. In general, the heat tolerant genotypes had a height of < 50 cm and all types of fruiting habits like solitary pendant fruits, solitary erect fruits, cluster pendant fruits and cluster erect fruits were recorded. DLS-146-5 and DLS-161~(-1) were giving maximum fruit setting ability with fruit yield of 621 gm per plant and 615 gm per plant respectively followed by DLS-152-1 with a yield of 471gm/plant from the month of May to June.
