ENI plans a fresh wave of investments in a high-profile exploration block offshore Mexico, as it seeks to evaluate the area's hydrocarbons potential and build new volumes on the heels of a significant discovery. Earlier this year, Eni made a big find in Block 7 in the Sureste basin with the Yatzil-1EXP wildcat. Preliminary estimates indicate the probe may hold in-place resources of about 200 million barrels of oil equivalent. Mexican regulator CNH last week approved a revised plan submitted by Eni for Block 7 that calls for the reprocessing of a 3D seismic survey and drilling of a new exploration well.
