QatarEnergy,Sinopec Ink Partnership Deal For NFE LNG Expansion Project in Qatar

Doha-QatarEnergy has signed a definitive partnership agreement with Sinopec for the North Field East(NFE)liquefied natural gas(LNG)expansion project in Qatar(PCN,31 Oct 2022,p 3).The $28.75-billion project,which will raise Qatar's LNG export capacity to 110,000-million t/y from 77-million t/y currently,will add four new trains,and will integrate carbon capture and sequestration to cut emissions.Production is expected to begin by 2026.Pursuant to the terms of the agreement,QatarEnergy will transfer a 5 interest in the equivalent of one NFE train with a capacity of 8-million t/y to Sinopec.
