Bechtel has been selected as the delivery partner for the Ontario Line in Toronto, Canada, a 15.6km, 15-stop subway line that has an estimated cost of CAD$10.9 billion (U$8.5 billion). The line was originally scheduled to be completed by 2027, but in December 2020 this was pushed back to 2030. Bechtel - with sub-vendors Bantrel Co. and Comtech Group Inc - will provide resources, experience, and knowledge in preparation for the construction of the rapid transit line through the city of Toronto. The Ontario Line will be the first new subway line project in 50 years in Toronto. Bechtel and the sub-vendors were selected by MetroLinx, the agency of the Government of Ontario that manages and integrates road and public transport. "Our team will bring considerable experience and lessons learned from similar recent roles around the world to help establish a collaborative integrated project team with the client and its other consultants and contractors," said Kelvin Sims, Bechtel general manager.
