摘要

Severe plastic deformation is a widely used technique to fabricate bulk nanostructured metallic materials. However, the rigorous deformation conditions raised some challenges, e.g. high cost and small sample size. Here, a beta-quenching treatment was used to change the initial microstructure of pure Zr. After rolling deformation with a maximum strain of 2.49, the nanostructure with grains in nanoscale and ultrafine scale was achieved. The formation of the nanostructure can be ascribed to its low initial basal texture and lamella-shaped grains that promoted grain refinement during rolling deformation. This novel strategy provides a new approach to produce bulk nanostructured materials.
