OSV demand in Mexico turned up in September after falling significantly in June and August. Two new long-term drilling contracts are scheduled to begin in October/November for PEMEX. Semi Frida I has left the yard with a new mooring system and has moved to an exploratory well site ahead of its 460-day drilling charter. Additionally, semi Blackford Dolphin is currently under tow from the Netherlands to Mexico by the Maersk Transporter 13,872 bhp AHTS. The tow is expected to reach Mexican waters by the end of October ahead of a 15-month drilling project for PEMEX. It remains unseen if the 2009-built Maersk Transporter will remain in Mexico to provide support for the drilling operations. The AHTS previously returned to the North Sea in early September, after completing the towage of Allseas pipelay vessel Tog Mor from the US Gulf to the Netherlands. Market sources have stated not many vessel contract suspensions have occurred as reported in mid-2020, although further contract renewals would not be given by PEMEX.
