摘要

Burnout, disengagement, strained relationships in the workplace - we hear about these concerns daily. Mental health issues are the main reason given for sick days in the UK - more than 17 million working days were lost last year because of stress, anxiety, or depression. The pandemic has highlighted the need for good mental health to be central to building back better. Employers have a legal duty to assess risks in the workplace, but this is not limited to just potential hazards and physical safety. A key point is that psychological risks should be treated the same as physical ones. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE)'s new campaign, Working Minds, examines issues relating to health at work. It aims to help businesses recognise the signs of work-related stress and make tackling issues routine. Working Minds has five simple steps: Reach out, Recognise, Respond, Reflect, and make it Routine.
