Some U.S. oil service firms whose Venezuelan operations were frozen by sanctions are joining an appeal to Washington for authorizations to restart oil drilling and boost production in the South American country, according to a Reuters report that cited unnamed sources. Schlumberger, Halliburton, Baker Hughes and Weatherford are asking the U.S. Treasury Department to relax the restricted license they share with producer Chevron. The sanctions bar them from helping Venezuelan state-run PDVSA and its joint ventures produce oil.
