Every month, a tanker traverses France from north to south, its cargo of 26,000 litres of beer destined for Saint-Priest-les-Fougeres, a municipality in the Southwest that has three times as many cows as it bas people. The beer is for the cows. In this peaceful market town in the Dordogne, the Dufraise family, stock breeders going back five generations, has turned its Limousins and Blond Aquitaines into the most spoiled bovines in Europe. They are not only fed beer, but given daily massages! The result is well-marbled beef (fat and lean intermixed) that is much appreciated by gourmets.
