? 2022Formaldehyde production (7.4 μmol in 3 h) and methylene blue (85) degradation were performed at maximum efficiency over hierarchical V2O5 films, which were deposited by the sol–gel method at different aging times. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the presence of tetragonal β-V2O5 and orthorhombic V2O5 phases. All films presented the vibrational modes of V2O5 and absorbed in the visible region. A decrease in the band gap was observed due to an increase in thickness as a consequent of the aging time. The films aged at 24 h exhibited a better photocatalytic efficiency due to dislocations in its structure.
