Applications of bone regeneration hydrogels in the treatment of bone defects: a review

Hydrogels can be designed as scaffolds in bone tissue engineering for more efficient healing of bone defects. Bone regeneration hydrogels have attracted extensive attention because of their good biocompatibility and excellent ability in promoting bone regeneration. This review will introduce the methods of bone regeneration hydrogels in the treatment of bone defects. Namely, promoting differentiation and proliferation of osteoblasts, promoting angiogenesis, regulating immune response and promoting mineralization. With the aim to deeply understand the development of bone regeneration hydrogels, we evaluate and summarize its characteristic, so as to help the future research. GRAPHICS .
